My first road bike, aged 13 in 1981, was a steel Raleigh Arena. My cycling heroes were Roger de Vlaeminck, Gino Bartali, Louison Bobet, Felice Gimondi and the TI Raleigh (Raas, Knetteman, Kuiper and co) team.
Now aged 45, I'm shedding carbon and aluminium to stick with steel. In the last few years I've ridden the three bikes pictured below, and loved it. Pinarello Sestriere 1995, Colnago Master Olympic 1995, Gios Torino Super Record 1980. The Gios is my current rise (I'm looking for a blue one too!)
It's great to meet; virtually at least; riders with the same passion for steel and vintage.
Hi, and welcome to CVC!
I believe many, like you, love and ride only classic & vintage steel bikes
Like you, appreciates the beauty of handcrafted masterpieces and ornate lug works!
Thanks dmonster. The Gios is the only one of these I have now. I also have an '89 Colnago Master Piu frame being resprayed, which should be back with me his week. I'd love to enter the Bike of the Month...but let me re-read the rules!!! Many thanks.
