How to take care of a steel bike?
Permalink Closed

I understand that one just can't hose down classic bike because it will rust. So what are any recommendations for cleaning the bike after every ride? Just wipe off with a cloth? Or use any special solvents for the delicate frame/decals? And what are the recommended wax/coat to protect the frame from further wear? I just want my bike to look as sparkling as 'Edward'!

I'll just wipe with a clean cloth every now and then after my ride
Make sure you keep it dry at all times
You can have a thin coat of car wax to clean and polish the chrome too
Classic steel bicycles are made of good quality steel, they don't rust easily

"Autosol" is only good for polishing the chrome. To get rid of little rust, fine grade steel wool would do the job!

Apply the use of solvents in the frame, I always try.
