Please be gentle with me as I've only just joined, but am desperately trying to find the date and potential value of two Old Triumph bicycles, which until recently were owned by my brother-in-law and are now part of his estate.
Bike one is a Gents Triumph with Sturmy Archer 3 speed gears, a 23 inch frame, painted British racing green, metal mud guards and chain guard, Brooks leather saddle and saddle pouch. Metal rod linkages to the brakes and has the serial number NE5206002 on the seat post.
Bike two is a Ladies Triumph with Sturmy Archer 3 speed gears, a 21 inch frame, painted British racing green, metal mud guards and chain guard, Brooks leather saddle and saddle pouch. Metal rod linkages to the brakes and has the serial number NA5279269 on the seat post.
Please help if you can as I don't want to let them go for a snip.
This looks post Raleigh (after 1954) If the bicycles are originals (parts) Look at the front & rear hubs for the numbers (date) Model of the 3 speed shifters (trigger) also helps to estimate the manufacture period Show us the numbers on the hubs and the close up of the shifter (trigger) Hope this helps!
Thanks for getting back to me. I can only assume that the parts are original, but under these circumstances that's just a guess. Unfortunately the bikes are 350 miles away from me and the custodians don't do technology (no internet and no digital camera). However they have managed to read the numbers from the hubs:
Gents bike 3 75. I presume this indicates March 1975? Ladies bike 74 11. I presume this indicates November 1974?
