Kenyan Riders in Singapore
Permalink Closed

Kenyan Riders, a Kenyan-based and Singapore registered company, was founded in 2006 by Nicolas Leong as the first professional cycling team based in Kenya.

Inspired by the success of Kenyan long distance runners, the cycling team was founded in Iten, Kenya – the small town that produces the majority of the world’s marathon runners. The logic for this was that if these endurance runners from Iten could win major competitions, they could be trained to win a professional cycling competition.

In 2009, Nick joined forced with Matthieu and Marie-Anne Vermersch and officially incorporated the company, Kenyan Riders Pte Ltd, in Singapore. The team has grown since then, with proper trainers, support staff and professional riders in training.

Our Kenyan Riders have the heart, lungs and legs of marathoners. We want to be the best climbers in the world…on a bike, and drug-free.

We hope to demonstrate that a small group of individuals can make a big difference in the world, give the underdog a chance to shine somewhere in the world, as well as gather support and encourage others to make the first step and fulfill their dreams. Since participating in amateur races in 2008, the Kenyan Riders have gone on to achieve top positions and worldwide publicity for the team’s bold vision.

OUR GOALS

Field the First all-African Team in professional cycling.
Create history for an entire continent.
Demonstrate that a small group of individuals can make a big difference in the world.
Give the underdog a chance to shine somewhere in the world.
Gather support and encourage others to build on their strengths and fulfill their dreams.
